How to Annotate
- LOOK UP every word that you are not 100% sure about the meaning.
- Underline what is the Main Topic of the story.
- Underline all of the Main Ideas in every paragraph. The Main Ideas of each paragraph must support the Main Topic of the article.
- As you are reading, you should be thinking about the information in the article, and write down IN THE ARTICLE IN THE MARGINS, any and all ideas that come to your mind. That is called ACTIVE READING
- Decide what your opinion of the information is. Make a list of your evidence/examples that you will use to prove/support your opinion.
- The first thing you must write is your SUMMARY of the article. You must include the Title and Author’s Name, and then PARAPHRASE all of the main points from the article.
